Re:Zero Season 4 Episode 6 – Japanese Fans Reflect on Julius's Devotion and the Sin Archbishop Voice Cast

Overview

The Re:Zero Season 4 episode 6 broadcast airs today on AT-X, TOKYO MX, BS11 and other stations. The 5ch / 2ch.sc 'Return by Death #182' discussion thread has been active for the past week, processing episode 5's reveals and theorizing about what comes next.

This article translates Japanese fan reactions covering: (1) the lingering chopstick discussion around Reid Astrea, with multiple commenters identifying him as a Miyamoto Musashi reference (the legendary swordsman who supposedly caught flies with chopsticks); (2) a deep-dive into Julius Juukulius's psychology — Japanese fans dissect exactly why he became so devoted to Subaru despite barely knowing him; (3) anticipation for Rem's awakening, which the production has effectively pre-spoiled by assigning her voice actress (Inori Minase) to the cast list along with the Sin Archbishops of Gluttony; and (4) viewer reactions to the just-aired episode 6 itself.

Chopsticks.

2:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 15, 2026 17:26

The fact that he just "strokes" with chopsticks is unsatisfying. He should be using attacks that actually leverage the unique shape of chopsticks.

3:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 16, 2026 11:09

Reid (the wooden-sword-wielding swordsman) is clearly modeled on Miyamoto Musashi. There's that famous legend about Musashi catching a fly with his chopsticks.

Today is when the real stuff starts, I think. We've had a lot of peaceful episodes. Looking forward to it.

5:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 20, 2026 15:03

Today's episode will probably skip the OP and play the Season 1 OP near the end, won't it?

6:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 20, 2026 20:14

Today's episode has fan service too.

7:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 20, 2026 20:29

No way, Julius...

8:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 19, 2026 16:57

Julius was so smitten with Subaru — he must have been thrilled when they brought down Matsuoka together.

9:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 19, 2026 18:30

Obviously. When he heard about the Hakugei (White Whale) subjugation he was quietly moved, and in the Petelgeuse battle he was already calling Subaru "my friend".

14:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 20, 2026 11:08

Julius rated Subaru — that disgusting Subaru — highly for the entire time. From before the Hakugei feat raised public evaluations, and despite not having seen the Elsa fight. To everyone else Subaru looked like nothing but a weirdo.

15:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 20, 2026 11:32

If Julius had defended the discriminated-against Emilia, he'd be treated as crazy and his master Anastasia's reputation could've been damaged. Julius couldn't move, but Subaru could.

16:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 20, 2026 12:05

>>14 Subaru could do it partly because he has no political position and no family that would suffer from persecution, but for Julius — who has been secretly worshipping heroic figures from stories — it really hit him.

17:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 20, 2026 13:33

Readers/viewers see the failures and inner conflicts of Subaru, so we know an ordinary person is desperately walking a tightrope. But Subaru's circle (excluding Roswaal) only sees the results — the always-succeeding, always-choosing-best path. To them he's an inevitable hero. The crushing weight of that misperception piling on Subaru is brutal, but the suffocating tension is what makes it good.

18:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 20, 2026 14:14

Hero fantasy, scarred hero, weak and fragile hero who needs to be supported or you can't sleep — once you actually understand Subaru, everyone falls for him in their own way.

19:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 16, 2026 01:33

>>16 Those voice castings in the official list: - Lye Batenkaitos: Kengo Kawanishi - Roy Alfard: same - Lui Arneb: Konomi Kohara These are the Sin Archbishops of Gluttony, right? They haven't appeared yet but they're definitely coming.

20:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 16, 2026 01:35

Rem: Inori Minase The fact that they've assigned her VA again means she'll wake up, right?

24:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 16, 2026 00:28

Anyone remember the third trial from Season 2, "the eventual disaster" (izure kuru saiyaku) and the lines from it?

25:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 16, 2026 01:53

Echidna's tomb's final trial. Emilia gets shown horrible possible futures. Search "izure kuru saiyaku" if you want to refresh your memory.

26:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 16, 2026 07:38

Season 4 confirmed facts: ā‘  The goal is to wake Rem up ā‘” Sin Archbishops of Gluttony have voice cast assigned ā‘¢ Rem has voice cast assigned Meaningful character lineup: - Sleeping Rem - Ram caring for a sister she doesn't remember - The forgotten Julius - Subaru who remembers everything

27:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 16, 2026 08:03

>>26 If Rem wakes up does that mean they defeat Gluttony? If Rem wakes up I'm so happy.

28:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 16, 2026 14:15

>>3 I watched Season 1 but dropped out at Season 2. Can I just pick up at Season 4?

29:AnonymousID:AnonymousMay 16, 2026 14:30

Probably won't make sense. Skip most of S2 but at least watch the key scenes that look interesting. S2 had iffy animation and bad pacing, but please do watch S3.
