Yomi no Tsugai Episode 4 – Japanese Fans React to the Real Asa Reveal and Tsugai Mechanics
Overview
Yomi no Tsugai Episode 4 'Jin and Yuru' aired April 25, 2026. The episode features Real Asa finally meeting Yuru and executing Fake Asa (the impostor Yuru had bonded with as his beloved sister) without hesitation, a dramatic decision that splits viewers between 'tactical necessity' and 'emotionally wrong.'
This article translates Japanese fan reactions from the 5ch episode 4 thread. Topics include: the morality of Real Asa's instant kill versus the 'flower-bed peace-brain' argument that hesitation would have gotten her killed, the Tsugai mechanics theory (each user has 2 paired entities making Sayou-sama's separately-moving form the 'best gacha'), the realization that this show is by the Arslan Senki author, and meta-discussion about the season's Big Four anime placement.

Is 30 minutes feeling fast or long? Definitely had volume to it. The enemies are smart, the pacing is good. So: not bad. Good.
>>1 The enemy western side is clearly succeeding in the city. But the ally eastern side might be... a bit dead-end?
>>1 Even if she's the genuine article — Real Asa instantly killing the fake Asa, whom Yuru recognized as his beloved sister, in zero time was not a great move.
I assumed this would be an everyday-life acclimation episode but they jumped straight to the meeting. Fast decision-making!
Heard Tsugai is getting popular, watched up to E2. Genuinely entertaining. The opening hook is well-executed — the popularity makes sense.
Tsugai is 2-cour. Once summer anime starts it'll get buried. Pretty much every 2-cour besides Re:Zero gets buried.
This season's anime Big Four: 1. Yomi no Tsugai — Only new work in the top 4, you don't know what's happening but that's the essence of anime 2. Honzuki no Gekokujou — Overwhelming source material strength, promoted from late-night to evening 3. Hokuto no Ken — A relic of the Showa era 4. (and one more)
>>1 Wait, the Tsugai manga is by the Arslan Senki person? That kind of work is fine. The 'I tried writing something like Demon Slayer' vibe is the disappointing part.
This feels like watching something behind the times. The Sayou-sama designs are 80s already. And the elements being shown all feel like things that have been done to death.
Now that I think about it, isn't EVERY character in this show two-tone hair?
So the Tsugai system means each user has TWO entities paired together — that's why it's called Tsugai (pair). Then having them as two separately-moving bodies like Sayou-sama is the best option. Gab-chan's is upper and lower teeth, Jin's is the anglerfish body and lantern — those are worse Tsugai. Bad Tsugai gacha.
Before the show started I thought the title meant 'Asa is Yuru's Tsugai.'
Gab-chan isn't actually popular though. Her eyes look mean and her personality is too rough. The clear female lead in this work is Hana-chan, isn't it? There aren't many female characters either, mind you.
Oh I figured it out — your memory is incredible. Danji? Is that the village boy with Yuru in E1? Remembering even one-off characters is amazing. So many new characters keep showing up, in my head he's just 'Village Boy A.'
